Nostalgia Wednesday: Career Ambitions

Whoops! I didn’t get this photo up in time to make the usual “Nostalgia Tuesday” schedule. I apologize for that, my internets must have been clogged up.

You can see here that at even at this young age I was well on my way to a fine career as a plumber. As you know, I grew up to be an “internet guy” instead.

Then again, I suppose I accomplished that goal, if like Senator Ted Stevens, you believe that the internet is a “series of tubes.”

Nostalgia Tuesday: The root of many issues…

There are a lot of things I could say about this picture. Why am I being swallowed by an enormous muppet-like carpet monster here? And why am I so happy about it? Could this “incident” be why I have an unnatural fear of dorky plaid? Why is it that every time I was “dressed up” before I was six they put me in a bowtie? All I know is that I’m suddenly very hungry for popcorn….

Sunday was a PERFECT day to go to the track. The weather could not have been better — 70s and sunny! And the right guy, the ever-classy Jeff Burton, won.

I’ve posted more photos to the weekend’s set, and you can view them HERE.

Boogity, boogity, boogity! Let’s go racin’!

Yesterday was a cold, windy day at the track. Hopefully today will be warmer!

I have the first batch of photos up now, you can view them HERE.

So far I’ve only processed the ones from Nextel Cup practice. Photos from the O’Reilly 300 Busch race and today’s Cup race will be coming soon.

Nostalgia Tuesday: Watching the Race

I’m headed to the races this weekend. It’s basically the same as this, but a lot bigger and louder. (Although, the pros tend to wreck less.)

I’ve rented another fancy lens again, so I hope to have plenty of great photos to share.

The Junkmail Project: Welcome to the AARP!

I’m 6 months away from my 30th birthday. Standards keep getting lower every day, don’t they?

As of the end of the first week of April, I have now received over 10 kilograms of mail. Just over 6 kilograms of that has been junkmail. Thanks to a strong showing by magazine subscriptions (particularly by this month’s WIRED) the spam ratio has slipped to just a hair under 60% of the total mail. Magazines now make up just over 25% of the stack. I’m sure once the next issue of JPG shows up, it’ll cause it to slip a little further.

(Don’t forget, you can still vote for my latest photograph submitted to JPG until April 11. GO HERE TO VOTE. Your support is greatly appreciated!)

Anyway, back to the mail …

In this graph you can see how the roughly 23 pounds of mail stacks up:

Nostalgia Tuesday: Happy Easter, Y’all!

Note to parents: When you dressed me up in this Little Lord Fauntleroy outfit and I said, “shoot me” I was not referring to what you should do with your camera.
