Nostalgia Tuesday: I’m too sexy for this shirt

And I don’t think I’ve worn Cowboys logo merchandise since.

Smells Like Holy Spirit

My friends rock!

As many of you know, I collect kitschy Jesus stuff. Today my friend April handed me this package of “Heavenly Incense.” Somehow, I bet Jesus smelled a bit more like sandal funk than sandalwood, but perhaps I’m missing the point of this product…

Smells Like Holy Spirit

And then when I got home and checked the mail today, I had a package from Sophie and Chris with these badass toy cars and one of the goshdarn funniest notes ever.

Vette and Mustang

My friends doth rock much, indeed.

Nostalgia Tuesday: Footy pajamas, a bowler, and a banana

I have no clever commentary on this photo. I think it stands on its own absurdity, and that’s a good thing, because I have no idea where I’d begin.

On the banks of the Allegheny River across from PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates

Greetings from Pittsburgh.

In Memphis they do funny (yet tasty) things with their sandwiches. Specifically, they put cole slaw on them. At Primanti Brothers in Pittsburgh, they go one step further by eliminating “side items” altogether. They serve their jaw-splitting creations with slaw and fries inside. And they’ll throw on a fried egg, if you want. My roast beef megalith was suprisingly better than I expected. Despite the gimmicky premise, this is actually a pretty damn good sandwich. This baker’s son was even impressed by the Italian bread holding the mess together, and that’s saying something, because I’m pretty darned picky about that stuff.

Anyway, the weather’s gorgeous and so is this city. I’m writing this from the plaza of the PPG Building. The water fountain show has just started up, so I’m going to go grab some pictures before catching a Pirates game this evening.

Seacrest out.

Work is hard. Life is rough. Woe is me.

Nostalgia Tuesday: I’m with the guy wearing the “I’m with Stupid” t-shirt

What else could that arrow be pointing to?

Pictures from the Races

This past weekend was full of racing at Texas Motorspeedway. Friday was the Sam’s Town 400K NASCAR Craftsman Truck race, and Saturday was the IRL Bombardier Learjet 500.

It was also my chance to break in a new camera. My old point-and-shoot crapped out on me, so I took this opportunity to upgrade to a Canon 20D digital SLR. So far, I absolutely love it. After qualifying, I also went to the local camera shop and rented a supersweet 500mm L series lens for the races so I wouldn’t have to fall back on my old habits of trying to shoot through a set of binoculars.

There’s no comparison between the old binocular shots and the new rig. There’s no way I would’ve been able to get photos like the one above with the old setup.

Here are a couple of slideshows of my shots from the weekend’s races:

Falling Lone Star

I took this picture during the opening festivities at the Sam’s Town 400 race at Texas Motorspeedway this weekend. I’ll put up a link to more photos soon (I have tons!) but I just wanted to share this one now.

I’m so glad I rented that 500mm lens!

By the way, I highly recommend viewing this picture at a bigger size by clicking here.

Nostalgia Tuesday: Demon Child

Don’t I look like I’m up to something?

Pure evil.

Happy 06/06/06, everyone.
