Nostalgia Tuesday: Why I’ll never be able to run for office

Because when I was four I wanted my birthday cake to look like the roof of the car from The Dukes of Hazzard.

Then again, I’ll bet Strom Thurmond had the same cake for his fourth birthday, too.

And with this grand finish, May’s celebration of Redneck Heritage month draws to a close. Y’all come back now, ya hear?

Must’ve been a brain freeze?

If you’re going to be making up words in your advertising campaign, you probably ought to take extra care to check all of your non-joke copy. People will actually take the extra time to read it all looking for something funny. In this case, it turned out to be unintentionally so. I wonder how many million of these table card displays Wendy’s printed without noticing the typo.

Nostalgia Tuesday: Redneck Tricycle

In this penultimate installment of Nostalgia Tuesday during Redneck Heritage month, I present this portrait of myself on the most badass trike in the history of trikes. Isn’t that hupcap totally fly?

Sweet dreams are made of this

Some people dream in color, while others dream in only black and white.
Some people dream in sound, while others dream in silence.
Some people dream of being naked in the boardroom while giving an important presentation.
Some people dream of sugarplum fairies (whatever the hell those are).

When I dream, it’s pretty much exactly like this video.

Nostalgia Tuesday: These boots were made for toddling

Redneck heritage month continues. Today, I present my first pair of cowboy boots. (I think it’s also my most recent pair of cowboy boots.)

Pouring iced tea during a barrel roll

This video is one of the most impressive things I’ve seen in recent memory. Pilots are some of the coolest people. They’re like the rest of us nerds, but with really kickass toys.

Nostalgia Tuesday: The redneck blues revue

I’ve got my harmonica. I’ve got my vest. Let’s have a hootenanny.

Nostalgia Tuesday: What were they thinking? Part II

What were they thinking letting a tiny boy ride heavy farm equipment driven by a guy who lost parts of several fingers in an accident involving heavy farm equipment … with no helmet?

According to Ben Folds, “there are a hundred ways to cover your redneck past.” However, that’s just not the way I roll. Through the entire month of May, Nostalgia Tuesday will instead be devoted to celebrating my “Agro-American” heritage. So enjoy … y’all.

A Day at the Races

Saturday was “Dollar Day” at Lone Star Park. That means dollar admission, dollar beer, dollar hot dogs, and one heck of a crowd.

It was a great opportunity for people watching and a little photo taking.

You can see the whole set here.
